Planning A Honeymoon

When selecting a honeymoon destination, it is important for the couple to come to a decision on what type of honeymoon experience they want.  There are limitless destinations to select from in the world for a honeymoon, but each individual couple has their own interests and needs.  After all the hustle and bustle of wedding planning some couples may want to simply relax and select a beach to rest on.  Others may want to use this time to focus on sightseeing or a learning experience, such as French cooking in Paris.  Other couples are more active and want to go on an active honeymoon that may include zip lining in Costa Rica or hiking in New Zealand.

Once the decision has been made as to the type of honeymoon experience that is desired, it is important to decide on where.  If resting on a beach is the choice, then there are an abundance of beaches to select from around the world.  Honeymooning on a tropical beach in Thailand is very different from a honeymoon on a beach in the Mediterranean coast.  So the decision here is based on the cultural experience, the distance and the weather.  For example if you are having a winter wedding in the United States, you can go on a summer honeymoon in Australia.  The distance and how many days the honeymoon will be is also a deciding factor in selecting a honeymoon destination.  Traveling to another continent like Australia will require more time, so this may not be a destination of choice if you are considering a short honeymoon.

Setting a budget and sticking to it is very important when it comes to a honeymoon.  The budget must fit the type of honeymoon you are selecting.  Take some time to do research on your top choices for honeymoon locations and find the average cost of cab fees and restaurants, etc. at those destination spots.  Most couples want some luxuries during their honeymoon, so decide what aspects are important to you and spend there and save elsewhere.  Perhaps an inexpensive hotel will save some money, so that you can splurge on fine dining.  It is important to plan ahead with your budget and honeymoon destination bookings.  Planning ahead and booking your hotel and flights in advance will help you find better deals and avoid unnecessary expenses.  Another great idea to help your honeymoon budget is to register for a honeymoon, so your friends and family can contribute towards the trip.

To make your honeymoon stress free, plan ahead when preparing for your honeymoon.  If you choose to travel abroad make sure your passport is up to date and make photo copies of credit cards and all important documents.  Make sure you have all the travel requirements for the country you are visiting.  Choose proper clothes, toiletries and proper necessities that you will need for your travel destination.  This will also help prevent unnecessary spending in an expensive tourist location. 

A honeymoon does not have to be in an isolated location far away from the rest of the world.  However, the honeymoon experience should be a time when the couple can focus on each other.  The honeymoon is a once in a lifetime vacation that the bride and groom and should decide upon and enjoy together.
