 Authentic Indian Wedding Favors

Wedding planners rack their brains over coming ups with truly authentic Indian Wedding favors.  When Indian wedding planning and designing an authentic Indian wedding favor, it is simpler if the focus is placed on the culture of India.  Creative ideas for wedding favors will come from the everyday practices and rituals of India.  Ancient old practices are full of symbolism and incorporating these aspects into your Indian wedding will only enhance the essence of India in your wedding.  Your Indian wedding guests will be impressed by the reverence you will pay to the culture as well.

When planning an Indian wedding think about the traditions of India and the National symbols.  One specific fruit that repeatedly comes to mind for all South Asian cultures is the mango.  The mango is the national fruit of India and Pakistan, while the Mango tree is the national tree of Bangladesh.   Mango is the most consumed fruit in India and is often a part of Hindu worship practices as a symbol of attainment, regarding the devotee’s potential perfection.    In the south of Indian, mango is even considered a royal fruit.  As significant as the mango is to the Indian culture of fruit consumption, it is also significant for Indian weddings.  Mango leaves are used to decorate archways and doors in Indian houses and during weddings and celebrations.  Mango motifs and paisleys can be seen in Indian embroidery and decorations.

As a wedding planner, incorporating the mango into the India wedding yet maintain sophistication can seem perplexing.  With creativity the mango theme and motif can bring on an ethnic elegance.   Use of shades of orange that depict the mango colors is a good place to start and coordinating the color with shades of turquoise or green will make for a colorful Indian wedding color palette.  Definitely use the paisley motif in invitations and other wedding stationary, such as the menus and place cards.  To stay with the mango theme, include it in the menu with mango lassi, a citrus salad that includes mangos, and condiment like mango chutney.  To really impress your guests offer miniature jars of mango chutney as wedding favors. The jars can be embellished with personalize labels and include a mango chutney.  This is an ever sweet gesture of thank you as your guests can enjoy the mango chutney recipe for years to come and remember your wedding day.  If you make your own mango chutney, it is a very personal touch that your wedding guests will appreciate as wedding favors.

Another age long ritual of India is tea or chai.  Indian tea is famous for all its flavor and spices.  The Indian people have been brewing chai or tea for centuries if not for pleasure then for medicinal purposes.  Drinking tea is a daily practice of Indians and it is nourishment that your Indian wedding guests will enjoy.  So, when wedding planning and preparing your menu, including a good Indian tea at the end of the night is essential.  You can also offer your guests your favorite blend of Indian tea in miniature favor jars or small wedding favor tins.
